Our group was small but mighty. The discussion, as always, was powerful, intriguing, and speaking for myself, I am all the better for experiencing it with the wonderful humans in attendance!

One of the best things about reading books set outside of the United States is learning about the food culture from other countries. I am the Messenger is set in Australia, which reminded me of a recipe from Gemma Stafford. Never mind that Gemma is Irish! She discovered ANZAC biscuits while working as a chef in Australia. The recipe is housed on her website but I highly recommend her book, Bigger Bolder Baking Everyday which is where I first discovered her recipe.
