One of the best things about reading books set outside of the United States is learning about the food culture from other countries. I am the Messenger is set in Australia, which reminded me of a recipe from Gemma Stafford. Never mind that Gemma is Irish! She discovered ANZAC biscuits while working as a chef in Australia. The recipe is housed on her website but I highly recommend her book, Bigger Bolder Baking Everyday which is where I first discovered her recipe.
